The Albanian Foreign Minister, Mr. Lulzim Basha was present on the First Annual Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations, held in Madrid, which happened on January, 15 th to 16th, 2008. Minister Basha, bringing to the attention of participants the unique experience of the inter-religious cohabitation in Albania, informed about the preparation of the National Strategy on the Inter-Cultural Dialogue and the initiative to organize the Conference on the Inter-Confessional Dialogue for Southeast Europe in Tirana within the year 2008. During the period in Madrid, Minister Basha had some important meetings with EU Foreign Policy Chief, the Spanish Foreign Minister, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference, The representative of the Indonesian President, and others, he also had some bilateral meetings with Ministers from Portugal, Turkey, the Philippines and others. The main issues of these meetings were the invitation for NATO membership and the Kosovo's final status. The Minister Basha presented during these meetings some datas about Albania’s NATO membership Action Plan, and the national focus on the implementation of the Judicial and Electoral reforms. Taking these opportunities, Minister Basha highlighted the constructive commitment of the Albanian Government in the actual stage of Kosovo, and underscored the necessity to implement a plan to contribute to the peace and stability in Kosovo, Serbia and the region which will reflect on an approach of Western Balkans to the rest of Europe.
